Henrietta Scholtz, is an interdisciplinary artist interested in the human condition, meta narratives and the study and development of cultures both ancient and modern. Her practice seeks to intersect the use of mark making, sound, voice, performance and the visual.

In her words: ‘I draw the body as landscape, in layered form, using fluid shape and sedimentary texture, in order to create a visual archeology. With this visual archeology, I attempt to unearth the binary in myself and the viewer; to embody a new space or perspective, straddling the now and then, past and present, self and other, known and unknown.’

She has exhibited in various shows including Cape Town Art Fair, The National Arts Festival, top ten Emerging Artist Portrait Award, top 100 Sasol New Signatures and Top 20 Thami Mnyele Fine Art Awards.

She holds a BA English and Theory of Literature and an BA Honours in Communications Management from Vega School. Henrietta is based at Bag Factory Artist Studios in Johannesburg.

In 2024 the book featuring seminal essays by highly regarded academics and creative practitioners entitled Creative Process on Making and Meaning featured her artwork on the cover available for purchase at all major bookstores.
